Audar / Terms of Service
Terms of Service
UNCOGNITO LLC · Effective date: September 24, 2026
These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) govern your use of the UnCognito Audar desktop application and the audio-analysis and related services it provides (together, the “Service”), operated by UNCOGNITO LLC (“UnCognito”, “we”, “us”). By installing or using the Service you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Notice.
1. The Service
Audar captures your computer’s system audio and analyzes it in real time to estimate the likelihood that speech is synthetic or AI-generated. It also offers an optional Source Check feature that checks a short audio excerpt you submit against public information to estimate its provenance. Detection scores and Source Checks are estimates only, provided for your information; they are not a guarantee, forensic determination, or legal proof that any audio is or is not genuine, and must not be relied on as such.
2. Licenses, tiers, and subscriptions
Audar is offered in tiers (for example a Pro tier and an Ultra tier), including a time-limited free trial. Paid tiers are provided under a subscription billed through our payment processor, Stripe, and are subject to the price and billing interval shown at purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically until canceled; you may cancel at any time and access continues through the end of the paid period. If a subscription lapses, is refunded, or is revoked, the corresponding entitlements (including higher tiers and usage allowances) may be reduced or removed. Your license is bound to use on up to two (2) devices at the same time (for example, one Windows PC and one Mac); you may move a seat to a different device from within the app.
3. Source Check usage and fair use
Source Check is subject to usage allowances that depend on your tier (for example a limited number of checks in the Pro tier and a monthly fair-use allowance in the Ultra tier). We may set, display, and adjust these allowances, and may apply reasonable rate limits to prevent abuse. When you use Source Check, a short audio excerpt (15–30 seconds — never the full recording) is sent for analysis; UnCognito does not retain it, and the enterprise AI service used is contractually prohibited from using your audio to train its models, as described in the Privacy Notice.
4. Your responsibilities for captured audio
You are solely responsible for ensuring that your capture, recording, and analysis of audio — including audio from calls, meetings, or other participants — complies with all laws that apply to you, including wiretapping, recording-consent, and privacy laws, and for obtaining any consent those laws require. UnCognito does not provide legal advice and the legal responsibility for what you capture and analyze remains yours.
5. Acceptable use
- Do not use the Service for unlawful, fraudulent, harassing, or abusive purposes.
- Do not use the Service, or its scores, to defame, impersonate, or harm others.
- Do not attempt to disrupt, circumvent usage limits, reverse engineer, or gain unauthorised access to the Service.
- Do not submit content through Source Check that you have no right to submit.
6. Privacy
Our handling of your data is described in our Privacy Notice. In summary: audio is analyzed on your device by default; only the excerpt you submit through Source Check leaves your device; licensing uses a device identifier via our licensing provider; and payment is handled by Stripe.
7. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any warranty that detection scores or Source Checks are accurate or complete. To the maximum extent permitted by law, UnCognito is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for any decision made or action taken in reliance on the Service’s output.
8. Changes
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
9. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, and subject to any mandatory consumer protections of your jurisdiction.
